چکیده

For the purpose to clarify further the residual catalase in the blood cell ghost, the ghost has been applied to Cyanogum and starch block electrophoresis and the results are briefly summarized as follows. 1. It has been demonstrated that after Cyanogum electrophoresis of the ghost after several washings, bubbling due to enzymatic reaction of catalase occurs near the points of origin, when the plate is immersed in hydrogen peroxide solution and also it has been proved the presence of catalase so firmly bound to the ghost that it is hardly moved by the electro phoresis. Even with the ghost of hypocatlasemia there can be detected catalase which is likewise hardly eluted from the ghost. 2. In the estimation of catalase activities of each fraction from red cell ghost by starch block electrophoresis there can be detected catalase near the point of origin, that is not eluted by the electrophoresis, and the activity of which corresponds to about 0.1 % of the total red cell catalase activity. ∗PMID: 4246442 [PubMed indexed for MEDLINE] Copyright c ©OKAYAMA UNIVERSITY MEDICAL SCHOOL Acta Merl. Catalase activity in the red cell ghost of hypocatalasemia and normal subject. I. Catalase in the red cell ghost of hypocatalasemia and normal subject.

An attempt was made to find out the nature of catalase coritained in the red cell, especially in the ghost, For this the red cell ghost isolated were washed several times with CO2-saturated water or deionized water and the catalase activity per gram protein of the ghost was estimated. It was found that despite several washings, the catalase activity/gram protein of the ghost do not decrease as ...

Abstract Background: Hereditary red cell enzyme disorders are a group of Non-immune/Spherocytic Hemolytic Anemia, although these disorders are rare and they have not public health problems, the detection of these defects could help to physician in treatment and differential diagnosis. This study evaluated 5 enzymopathies in patients with Hereditary Non –immune/Spherocytic Hemolyti...

Antioxidant Enzymes and Acute Phase Proteins Correlate with Marker of Lipid Peroxide in Adult Nigerian Sickle Cell Disease Patients

Objective(s) Sickle cell disease is a genetic disorder characterized by chronic haemolytic anaemia. Haemoglobin S containing red blood cells may be susceptible to oxidative stress due to imbalance between production of reactive oxygen species and the countering effect of the various antioxidants present in the body. Materials and Methods We evaluated some antioxidant enzymes which include gl...

In-vitro Evaluation of the Antibacterial and Cytotoxicity Activity of the PAD4 Antigen of Bacillus anthracis as a vaccine candidate

Introduction: Infectious diseases are one of the main causes of death worldwide. This has driven scientists to invest in extraction and identification of antimicrobial agents from natural toxins and presentation of novel antibiotics and vaccines. The aim of the current study is to investigate the antibacterial and cytotoxicity effects of the protective antigen domain 4 (PAD4) from Bacillus anth...

Red cell membrane protein abnormalities as defined by sds-page among patients with anaemia in a west african region hospital practice

Background: Erythrocytes require an ability to deform and to withstand shear stress while negotiating the microcirculation. These properties are largely due to their excess surface area per volume and the characteristics of the membrane’s protein. Deficiencies of these proteins are associated with chronic haemolysis. Methods: This was a cross sectional  study aimed at determining the prevalenc...
